Subject: MacOS internationalization effect on the PPC browser/Program Linking
Problem:
An Osmosis script is targeted and created on one machine, but when moved to another machine and properly set-up, the following Osmosis error is reported, "Port does not exist at destination".
Discussion:
Osmosis uses program linking, via the PPC Port Browser, to identify the machine running the Helix application. This is a Mac OS system function and is internally configured by the system's internationalization. Therefore, a US system will save it's configuration differently from a French, German or Norwegian system.
Solution:
If an Osmosis script is created and targeted on a US or other international system, it must be re-created (not merely re-targeted) if moved to a different international system.
Thanks to Mike French for helping to work this one out!
